Height Reducible Gunner Turret
The Height-Reducable Gunner Turret, when folded flat, is lower than any other turret and is quicker to deploy. One individual can handle the task in less than 15 minutes.
The current gunner’s protective turrets used by the U.S. Military cannot alter their 24-inch height above the vehicle roof during storage or transport, a significant shortcoming inside an aircraft or below deck on board a ship. Even when unmanned, the turret height raises the vehicle’s center of gravity, making it more susceptible to rollover.
Granite’s turret folds flat across the turret hatch for storage or transport, adding only 5 inches to the vehicle height and stays within the turret’s footprint. It can be deployed rapidly by one individual while maintaining all current ballistic protection, visibility, operating characteristics, lethal and non-lethal weapons when employed, and physical dimensions of the current turrets. When folded flat, the turret is lower than any other and quicker to deploy.
Granite’s Folding Turret fits the vehicle turret ring and uses the original weapons mount and gunner’s shield attachment. Armored steel cassettes hold ballistic glass panels for the turret and gunner’s shield. The cassettes are identical in height, width and depth and are interchangeable. An integral handle aids in installation and removal. Granite’s folding turret provides for the addition of B-Kit armor.
